Savy Bridal Beauty Tips!

I was doing my routinely browse at the cosmetic's counter at London Drugs, and this package was worth a good laugh. I usually don't push products but I was so impressed. But I never imagined that it would actually do what it said. This lip plumber actually works. Obviously your lips aren't going to grow over night, but it helps adds shape and shine. The ingredients cause a little bit of a tingly feeling to wear, but really looks great. I picked it up for $9.99 CAD, at the London Drugs and I highly recommend it to any Bride, or any girl looking for a quick glam look for their lips. Wear this for your engagement photos, portraits or wedding, its light gloss is easy and affordable.

Invitations for all occasions!

Here's some new invitations that I've been working on for various clients. Invitations can be such a immense amount of work, so why not let Dragonflight help. These invitations can have a modern flare, with keeping your budget in mind. Having an trendy wedding doesn't need to cost you an arm & a leg, and Dragonflight understand's the word "budget". Spending evenings printing your own invitations from that inkjet printer may actually end up costing you more than you anticipated in ink and waste countless amounts of time that you could be working on other wedding projects. Contact us today for your invitation options.

November, November!

Fall has come and gone and onward to frosted mornings, and soon Christmas' celebrations we head onto. It seems all the department stores have officially started the Christmas push, christmas tree's and such. The local starbucks was all decked out this weekend. I don't mind I love the decorations, it gets me excited for all the hot chocolates, and christmas movie watching at home on the couch time!

Aside from my random ramblings, I wanted to post some new headshots. Emily the beautiful. Check them out below!

Really Digging this Song

Just thought I'd share, something I'm really loving right now. It's a song by Canadian Band - Metric - Give me Sympathy. Just kinda a mello song especially the acoustic version. Usually I don't share music, but for today I'll make an exception. Maybe I should start a music selection, for future brides?

cheers,

Not just a photo.

Sometimes I really think photographers don't appreciate their "job" properly. You know, I really hate calling it that, it's not a job it's definately a lifestyle or a passion. I get to spent the most memorable day in anyone's lives, with them. From start to finish, I see their tears, their anxieties, their nervousness as they approach the chapel waiting to see their soul-mate dressed for the first day of the rest of their lives together. I get to feel their emotion, when they cry at the alter, because I'm documenting every moment, every touch, every little detail that all the others in the audience will miss. I see them talking and flirting like it's all completely brand new as the priest talks to the rest of the guests, small touches during the ceremony, and smiles. I see the small tears of happiness from under the Brides veil as she looks into the eyes of her husband. The best though, is simply seeing the Groom, when the Bride makes her first appearence. What feels like the longest aisle walk to the alter, the Groom's face always says it all. You can see the love and excitement he shares for the gorgeous white beauty slowly making her way towards him as if it takes an eternity for her to get to him. In that moment, my heart gets this butterfly warm feeling, that I get to take part in watching the most blissful moments of the begining of this love story.

I always feel like I'm taking part in a love-story each couple, very different from the last, their stories so different, but one ceremony and day bringing them all together, with the same words "I Do". The getting ready in the morning is always my favourite, pure raw emotion. You can tell so much about people when they're getting married. I always loved when the Groom's would send tokens of their love to their Brides, a card expressing their undying love, or roses so they know the passion they feel for eachother. Ah, so romantic. Weddings are truly the best part in the love-stories of every couple, that is why I feel truly blessed to be able to take part in those moments. I feel like I get to read by photograph, the love story of each couple. So to the couples I have photographed, Thank you so much and to future couples, I feel honnored you would like to share your love story with me.

Boudoir - Sexy, Flirty and Beautiful

This week breezed by with fun photoshoots! First stop was Victoria for photos with Lara, Alex, Brooklyn and new arrival Elijah - Photos to come soon! Then onward to sultry, Monica for a boudoir photo-shoot. The inspiration was more of a Moulon Rouge theme with a flare of flirt, sexy and confident.

Enjoy.

Blogging Behind!

Oh wow, it's crazy how summer's officially come and gone, which means the Summer Wedding Season is over! All the Brides and Grooms that I had a chance to celebrate their marriage with, thank you so very much! I've had a blast!

It's begining to be that time of year, where the leafs are changing colour. My favourite time of year to go and visit Fort Langley. The road on the way to the Fort, is so picture perfect, my goal is to photograph a bride and groom in Fort Langley at some point in October! It's too beautiful! Fort Langley gives that small town flavor, with the unique crowds as well, enjoying a mocha at the little coffee shop on the corner, Oh geez I can't remember the name!

Anyway, I wanted to put up some new pictures so for your viewing pleasure, check out Celina! Celina is a dear friend of mines new baby, (Lydia and Daryl).

Lydia and Daryl's Maternity Shoot

I had such a great time photographing this gorgeous couples. I always love maternity photos, the pre-newborn stage. Their little love, is due in one week!!! I couldn't believe how much love was in the air for this baby, it made photographing these two super stars real easy! I was so happy when they decided to shoot in their backyard vineyard/rasberry bushes, I know what are you thinking?!? Weeds, and Bushes?! They turned out beautifully, and there was even some photos that were almost like replica's of Lydia's parents family photo from years ago. Here's a preview of the gallery, while I'm still going through them! Hope your all enjoying the heat (i'm really enjoying a/c) heh.

FYI - I am currently in Victoria BC for the wedding season, so if you'd like to book a session during the week simply call 778-230-8907.

The greatest love story of all... your wedding.

I simply love when wedding season comes around. July, August and September the craziest months of the year, and those that I look forward to so fondly. I never thought I'd be working weekends when I was younger, as I remember hating working Saturday's in perticular for my old job when I was a tween (Romeo's Buser), I vowed then I'd never work weekends. Little did I know how much joy would come from "working" Saturdays and Sundays.

Sometimes I really think photographers don't appreciate their "job" properly. You know, I really hate calling it that, it's not a job it's definately a lifestyle or a passion. $50.00 Shelter from the Storm Photoshoot

Shelter from the Storm is Canada’s largest national campaign dedicated to ending violence against women. Canadian Women’s Foundation raise funds to support more than 450 shelters for abused women and their children, across Canada.

You’ll also be helping to fund community programs that assist women as they rebuild their lives after abuse; that teach young people about healthy relationships; and that counsel children who have witnessed violence, to help them heal and prevent them from becoming victims or abusers themselves.

http://www.shelterfromthestorm.ca/

If this even isn't quite in your budget, you can still always donate directly to shelter from the storm, visit the website for more info.

I have personally known too many women who have fallen victim to abuse, whether it be in the family or in a relationship. Let's help those women, and embrace being beauties ourselves. Too many women are having a hard time with self-esteem and strength. This photo-shoot will help raise funds for Shelter from the Storm, and every women that decides to participate will have a fun personal shoot, and bring out her beautiful self.

Depending on the response this event has, there will be one event held in Victoria, BC and one in Vancouver, BC.

This is to see how many women can commit to a shoot, a small deposit will be required (you can send funding online via paypal).

I'd like to book a room at the Delta, or Empress hotel in Victoria, we will be shooting in the bedroom with a boudoir theme, embrace that sexy side of yourself, feel confident and get some photos in the mean time. We will have snacks at the hotel, fun hang out session for women at the hotel in the suite.

All women that participate will have the photos online webgallery, you will get all your photos on a CD and proceeds will go to Shelter from the Storm (basically everything left over from paying for the hotel) - cost for each lovely lady is $50.00 (tax receipts are available through shelter from the storm).

F.A.Q.
What type of photography is this?

It’s up to you and what you feel comfortable with, if you feel most beautiful in your fave le senza pj’s or if that means sweats and your husbands hockey jersey, it’s entirely up to you ladies. The reason for this event is to help bring out women’s confidence, and have a good time, suppoting a great cause.

Please email me if you would like to participate no later than July 6th, 2009 - so we can book a room, or set up a studio session.

FYI - LADIES - PROFESSIONAL MAKE UP ARTIST WILL ALSO BE AT THE SHOOT! MAC make up EXCLUSIVE!
